Economic Development Committee

Economic Vitality and Business Community Projects

In the past years, the Economic Development Committee has developed professional services and educational opportunities to support downtown businesses and initiatives to boost the local economy.

The DSC’s Economic Vitality and Business Community Projects group will continue pursuing these efforts and focus on the business vitality component of its mission. To achieve this, the DSC will create Business incentive/grant programs to extend business hours over the summer. The DSC will create engaging activities around increasing foot traffic on Main Street and develop a membership program for the merchants.

Project List

  • Administer and pursue revitalization grants (MIP, TAG, façade programs, and others).
  • Support small businesses through collaborative marketing campaigns, gift card programs, and themed retail experiences.
  • Explore developing business incubation initiatives that support youth and minority entrepreneurs, fostering inclusive small business growth.
  • Activate the 7611 Main Street community hub through pop-ups, workshops, and small-business programming. Efforts will engage the JEDI committee task force.
  • Explore transportation and parking solutions, including feasibility research for trolleys or shuttles.
  • Expand experiential retail initiatives, including curated shopping packages, referral programs, and collaborative events.
