Gypsy Systers on Main Street

Last Updated 4/12/2024

Gypsy Systers is aptly named, as a family of artists serves the community with healing products, arts, and practices. Owner Lauren Pobletts, her two daughters Gerry and Sydni, and a daughter’s mother-in-law Sharon collaborate with Lauren at Gypsy Systers’ historic 7604 Main Street location. Beautiful artwork from several other family members is on display, showcasing the talent in this family business. Gypsy Sisters’ mission is to use the gifts the earth provides to live a more connected, healthy lifestyle, spiritually and physically. Lauren fell in love with Main Street while working at the popular restaurant across Main Street, E.W. Becks. She and her family were selling their art at craft fairs until she was able to open her first location at 7552 Main Street, the current site of Cowboys and Angels. A year later, after outgrowing the space, Gypsy Systers moved to their current location. Gypsy Systers has many facets. The storefront boutique features art, healing products, clothing, and food. Lauren’s sister, Angie Martinez, paints the rocks and signs in the storefront with positive messages. Paintings and hand-sculpted glass by Lauren’s other sister, Kate Klipp, are masterfully created with a unique, dotted style. Lauren’s son-in-law, Kyle Muranaka, showcases his unique, handmade woodwork. Pass through that enticing space to the makeup studio where Lauren’s daughter, Sydni Muranaka, beautifies customers for weddings, proms, or any special occasion. She also consults with everyday makeup tips. Keep traveling to the rear of the building to enter the Spiritual Healing Center. Five years ago, Unwined moved from this location to their larger store up Main Street, so Lauren was able to annex that space into the Healing Center. The soft lighting, plants, soothing sounds, and positive energy make this space the perfect place to practice medical and spiritual healing arts with Lauren and family member Sharon Muranaka. Through her business, “Sole to Soul Wellness”, Sharon specializes in reflexology, medical Reiki, electrolysis. Breathwork, Taro reading, sound baths, crystal energy, and other transpersonal and meditation practices are led in this peaceful space. Managing this multi-faceted enterprise is Lauren’s daughter Gerry Harrison. Lauren raised her four children in the Sykesville area, and has been a resident for 35 years. Lauren was a muralist before opening her shop, but she prefers being able to choose what she creates, and to have a personal connection with her customers. “My greatest joy is the people who come in. I’m not rich, but my life is rich because of them. What’s in people’s hearts matters to me”. Laren feels that people search out her healing products and practices because they are “searching for ways to make sense of the world—especially with the challenges right now. We help to find answers within oneself.” To promote a healthy, organic lifestyle, Gypsy Systers sells local foods such as honey and kombucha, handmade soy candles, essential oils, and incense sticks. Customers young to old come shop for the free-sprit boho style clothing. Lauren’s message is summed up with this quote, “This is a place where everyone is welcome…this space brings in kindness and compassion”.
