Celebrate Diwali in Downtown Sykesville: Lights, Culture, Community ✨🪔

Last Updated 1/14/2026

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, 5:30–8:00 PM, Downtown Sykesville will glow under the beautiful lights of Oklahoma Avenue as we gather for our annual Diwali—Festival of Lights celebration. Come experience an evening of joy, learning, and connection in the heart of our Main Street district.

What to Expect 🎶🛍️

We’ll kick off with a short, welcoming presentation about Diwali—why lamps are lit, what the holiday symbolizes, and how families celebrate around the world. Then enjoy music, festive décor, and a vibrant marketplace featuring Indian clothing & jewelry, handmade mandala art, Bombay Chai products, and artisan candles. 🌼🧿🕯️

Taste of India on Main 🍛🥭

Our friends at Kinara Indian Cuisine and Bar are bringing the flavor—aromatic bites, classic snacks, and sweet treats that make Diwali unforgettable. It’s the perfect chance to try something new (or indulge in favorites) while supporting a beloved local business. 🍽️

Powered by Partnership 🤝

This celebration is a true community effort. We’re honored to partner with NATS: North America Telugu Society for cultural connections and programming. Special thanks to sponsors Whataday Café and Bluebird Yoga and Wellness for helping us light up the night and keep inclusive, wellness-centered events accessible to all. 💜

Why Diwali on Main Street? 🏘️

Main Streets thrive when everyone belongs. Diwali shines a light—literally and figuratively—on shared prosperity, inclusive stories, and joyful public space. As part of our Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (JEDI) Committee work, this program builds understanding across cultures, supports local entrepreneurs, and strengthens Sykesville’s economic vitality. That’s Main Street in action: placemaking that welcomes, programming that educates, and partnerships that last. 🌍

Be Part of the Glow ✨

Join us to celebrate light over darkness, community over isolation, and connection over division. Bring friends and neighbors—let’s light up Sykesville together! 🪔💫

Program of the Downtown Sykesville Connection’s JEDI Committee. Meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month; all are welcome to learn more and get involved. 💬
